Everything has to do with geographyJudy Martz
The name ‘Cannon Yarder’ comes from the location in which the geography department can be found at school: Cannon Yard. Situated just outside of the classrooms lies a cannon in the middle of a cobbled, roughly square-shaped yard. Captured from the Russians during The Siege of Sevastopol (Crimean War) in 1855, it now lays facing the school’s main library.
The Cannon Yarder is a student run publication, set up by several boys in the summer of 2020, whilst still in lockdown due to COVID-19. With extra time on our hands, we thought that it would be a fantastic way to encourage more students to appreciate just how broad a discipline geography is, looking beyond the A-level syllabus.
